THEY'RE GOOD BUT THIS BRAND'S BEEN CAPABLE OF DOING BETTER
DEKIRU used to sell this exact same product in the color red and let me tell you. The red ones were actually WAY BETTER than these new charcoal/black bass traps. NO, I am not saying that because my preferred color is red. I am referring to the actual build quality. I was stuck after I could only buy 1 set of the red for my room and now I had to finish the rest in the black so my room looks a bit offset but the quality is DEFINITELY different. The red bass traps were a bit more thicker than these new ones you are looking at. In addition, the red ones ALSO went back to the original size as advertised, 12" x 7" x 7", even after receiving them in the same "VACCCUM SEALED" package. It made me wonder what else DEKIRU changed about their product besides the color difference, even though both colors do look amazing once they're in your hands. :)This is NOT intended to influence your decision because the red bass traps are no longer being available for me. However, I do think that every customer would agree that even if "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR." The quality should definitely be a priority. I have tried multiple ways of getting the black bass traps to their original shape but they still vary in shape. When I say they vary in shape, I have realized that if YOU are buying these for the first time, make sure you buy the entire amount you think you may need. Otherwise it will be like buying a shirt from a wholesaler today and one a week later only to find out that one is a lighter shade than the other but if we compare that to these traps. It is more about the size of the cut outs you have to worry about since I haven't had a bass trap that was ever a shade lighter. On my provided pictures you may be able to tell there are gaps or some may be poking out a little more than others. I have ensured that they are flush with the corners so that is exactly how they would look on someone else's wall too.I think that these bass traps could be handled a little more better like DEKIRU did when they sold the red bass traps. This is coming from a returning customer who has purchased these bass traps more than once to finish the room without making the studio look weird by having different mismatching brands on the walls.***These new bass traps require a little more care to details and will trigger OCD if you are a perfectionist.***I will gladly answer other questions as well like:- "Do they look exactly as advertised?" - YES- "Do they perform as good as described?" - For what I'm doing, YES. However, it depends on what purpose these bass traps may serve for you.- "How noticeable is the size difference between each individual bass trap?" - It depends but the maximum is about 1 inch.- "Are they better than other brands and are they worth the purchase?" - YES and NO. It depends on the project you are working on.- "Do they completely deaden the noise in the room?" - NO, but they do assist with reducing noise (i.e., reverb or anything alike).

Cheap Stinky Garbage
Run them under HOT water and they puff right up in 1 minute. This also gets rid of most of the foam polymer smell they have when you first get them.

Confused about packaging and contents
Ok i can't really rate this product yet until i understand it. But i ordered a package of 8 sound proofing bass traps. It came with two tightly compressed bags. When i open the bags it see only 2 pieces for a total of 4. Now I'm not sure if each one is supposed to spread out and miraculously create two. But I'll wait and see. So I'll give it 3 stars until i see what happens after 48 hours for them to uncompress....crossing my fingers.Update: Ok, apparently they come in 4 bricks in 2 bags. After about 24 to 48 hours each of those bricks can be pulled apart and make two. So total of 8. The only 2 real problems is that they are not perfectly cut. But for a price and budget I'll take them. The other small problem. They don't look exactly like picture. They are not equal on the sides.. as it seems in the images. But that's ok, i guess. Not perfect but functional. I'll change my review from 3 to 4 stars.

Completely misleading title, but I bit anyway
Being in the "industry" has taught me a lot of things, especially when it comes to sales pitches and scams. I've built quite a few studios and do a lot of math and research into materials and performance when it comes to treatment of rooms. I usually dismiss a company when they refer to foam as sound proofing because its just an all out LIE right off the bat. No acoustic foam (and certainly not whatever this stuff is) "soundproofs" a room, wall or anything else. For sound proofing you need isolation, which required decoupling and mass and a lot of other scienc-y stuff that goes over most peoples heads. The only reason i bought these is because they were the right size and look to complete a room I was working on. They are AESTHETIC ONLY. They are not made from any kind of material used for acoustic purposes that I've ever seen or used. They are way too soft and small to do ANYTHING meaningful, save for MAYBE getting rid of some super high end flutter in a corner. The material they are made of is garbage and seems to be akin to what is used in really cheap shipping boxes when you're trying to ship something fragile. Again, WAY too soft. The consistency from piece to piece is just nonsense as NONE of the pieces are the same size which means when mounted, they dont quite line up from top to bottom. I had to adhere one side to the wall, then stretch the material out (which you cant really do with REAL acoustic foam as its is way more rigid than this stuff) and tack the other side (physically) while the adhesive dried. Again, this product should NOT be advertised to have any worthwhile acoustic properties whatsoever, much less "soundproofing". If you're looking to match a look or use this for purely aesthetic purposes, then its a real bargain. Call it a diffusion panel, or diffusion foam... DO NOT call it soundproofing material. If you're looking for real room control, you're going to need to spend a lot more if you want the foam look and actually get something out of it, or build your own panels from rockwool or similar. Caveat Emptor.

Still deformed after 3 days.
When I purchased these bass traps - don’t get me wrong - I was obviously NOT expecting Auralex quality, but I’m pretty disappointed still.I understand this is a budget Amazon-seller bass trap, but I’ve purchased a lot of acoustic foam for my studio from low end Amazon Sellers that have worked great, so the fact that these are as subpar as they are is impressive.Packaging - Why companies are STILL over vacuum-compressing their products blows my mind. I’ve had a ton of foam delivered in small, easy packages with no compression (MyBecca for example, makes great budget UNCOMPRESSED foam products), but this company still decides it’s the way to go. On arrival, it wasn’t anything I wasn’t expecting - compressed and needing to sit for a day which I’m more than happy with doing. Well 36 hours later, and only 3 of them are in shape (slightly uneven, but usable), while the other 5 are acute angled, squished, deformed garbage. Even after I tried fluffing them out a little, there was basically no improvement. I haven’t tried the water soaking technique yet, but I shouldn’t have to just to make these usable. This basically makes the entire rating of 2 stars.Quality - Aside from the packaging, the foam is decently dense, a perfect size for bass traps, and has easy adhesion using spray glue on cardboard - and for that it recovers a star. Foam is foam, and location is mainly all that matters (aside from density) when it comes to bass buildup absorption, and this does the job just as well as any other budget foam.I DO NOT recommend going through this company though if you’re looking for bass traps. If you want some budget acoustic foam I’d definitely look elsewhere. If I could get sent replacement UNCOMPRESSED bass traps from the company, my mind would be changed because they do work as intended. But for now I’m pretty disappointed and I will definitely be going to other companies for my bass traps.2/5 stars.
