Effective relief
This particular unit is no longer being manufactured. I understand adjusting price to reflect supply and demand, but in this case, adding nearly 200 dollars to the price, is gouging. The unit itself is wonderful. Have used it for several years.

“Zap Your Way to Bliss: The Aleve Direct Therapy Chronicles”
Greetings, fellow back warriors! Gather 'round the campfire (or, you know, your cozy couch) because we’re diving into the mystical realm of the Aleve Direct Therapy TENS Device. It’s like strapping a tiny wizard to your lower back—one who specializes in banishing discomfort without the hassle of potions or incantations.1. The Backstage Pass to Relief: Picture this: You’re at a rock concert, and your lower back is the lead guitarist. The crowd roars (aka your muscles ache), and you need a solo that’ll make Jimi Hendrix jealous. Enter the Aleve TENS Device—a backstage pass to relief. It’s like having a tiny roadie massaging your lumbar region while whispering, “Rock on, my friend.”2. The Electric Symphony: TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. Fancy, right? But don’t worry; you don’t need a PhD in wizardry to use it. Just slap those magical gel pads on your skin, fire up the device, and let the electric symphony begin. It’s like Mozart composing a concerto for your nerves.3. The Dance of the Gel Pads: Ah, the gel pads—the unsung heroes. They stick to your skin like loyal sidekicks, delivering gentle pulses. It’s like they’re saying, “Hey, nerves, wake up! The party’s just getting started.” And guess what? You can reuse them until they retire (or start quoting Shakespeare).4. Stealth Mode: The Aleve TENS Device is stealthier than a ninja in moonlight. Slip it under your shirt, and voilà! You’re a secret agent fighting back pain. No one will suspect a thing. You’ll be at work, at the gym, or even at a fancy dinner party, zapping away like a boss. (Just don’t zap the appetizers.)5. The Grand Finale: As you bask in the electric hum, you’ll wonder how you ever survived without this magical gizmo. It’s like upgrading from a flip phone to a smartphone—except your lumbar region is the hotspot. So, my fellow adventurers, embrace the Aleve Direct Therapy TENS Device. Your back will thank you, and your dance moves will improve by at least 37%.Disclaimer: No wizards were harmed during the making of this review. Results may vary based on your air guitar skills.

Amazing
I can't say enough about this item. Using it as I type. Works wonders. Have suffered from lower back pain for many, many years. My chiropractor has helped but when I saw the ad I figured I had nothing to lose. When I mentioned it to him he said "great, but just don't overdo it". He also mentioned I could use it on other parts of my body that ache.I read some of the negative reviews and I can't see that they apply. First the gel pads. Yes they feel gooey but that's need for the unit to adhere to your back. They leave no residue on your back. Instructions say you can use them 2-5 times. I'm on about 10 times and they still look and work like new. Once your done they must be covered up with the plastic sheet they came in. Otherwise they will get dirty and fail to work. So that's not a problem. Another review states they couldn't get it to work. The instructions say to press the small button on the unit, wait for the green light to flash THEN apply it to your back. (I didn't do it the first time and thought it wasn't working). Then press the on button on the remote. My only negative thought is the cost of the replacement gel pads. It reminds me of buying an inexpensive printer only to find out the cost of the ink LOL.If you have back problems you can't go wrong.

It does an excellent job of relieving lower back pain
I just looked up this product at Walmart. At $55.99, it's a much better buy than Amazon's offers, although Walmart is currently out of stock. I hope Walmart maintains the current price. What's with Amazon anyway! I am shocked since I bought mine for about $40.00 two years ago. On Amazon, it now costs $88.Another example of Big Pharma exploiting its customers. Aleve is owned by Bayer. Add the cost of the replacement gel pads, and it's clear Bayer doesn't mind gouging people in pain. The brand name is $35/pair. Others are equally overpriced at roughly $2.20/pair. Amazon also sells adhesive gels which come in tubes. It's likely a lot of gel for under $10.00. This may be messy, but...well, you get the picture. That said, the advantage of this product is that one can wear it while walking around. It does not, however, deliver as much relief as wired products such as HealthmateForever, and the gel pads can fall off. Much to my chagrin, this happened to me at a party. I quickly retrieved it, but it was nevertheless noticed .I wrote the review below two years ago when I first acquired this product. I have finally figured out how to replace the remote's batteries more easily. Just keep a dime on hand so that you can pry it open.I was initially impressed with this product. it does perform as promised, relieving lower back pain. Some days, I wore it all day long and, of course, replaced the batteries whenever it ceased to work. I even bought rechargeable batteries, knowing I would be using the device frequently. Replacing the batteries in the butterfly device was easy, especially since the manufacturer provides a tool to open the compartment between the butterfly wings -- along with clear and detailed instructions about how to do so. I can' say that about replacing the batteries in the remote. I would love to find out that I just don't know what I'm doing, and that there's a simple solution. But now in order to replace these batteries, one must 1) open the compartment, 2) remove the batteries, 3) hold down both buttons on the remote while 4) replacing the batteries QUICKLY. Once that's done, the device will work, but only for one cycle of its functions. So if one's lower back hurts all day, one must...well, you get the picture, I hope. Lastly, I am wondering if the problem actually lies with the lithium battery that powers the remote. If so, I hope the manufacturer can make it as easy to replace this battery as it is to replace the AAA's on the butterfly device. Damned if I can find a single way to open the remote.
