Good value

I like this... It is easy to use. Would be hard to damage your blade with this. Works as expected.

Useful

It can make your blade sharp. Just takes a while. I suggest using a file to smooth out the blade then use sharpening tool.

Designed Specifically For Mower Blades ░░░ Full Demo In My Video

The media could not be loaded. As someone who has been sharpening mower blades for over 20 years (I used to have a landscaping company called "The Sod Squad"), I swear by this mower blade sharpener. This is because of two reasons: the handle design is very easy to use (no risk of cutting yourself), and the actual design of the sharpener (one carbide side and one guide) is specific to mower blades. The sharpener works very well.Mower blades are not knives, so you don't need to put a bevel on both sides of the blade. You also don't need to get them razor sharp. Instead, a mower blade just has a single bevel, and this is why this sharpener is ideal. It's true that you CAN sharpen your mower blade with a file. But it's way easier and faster to just swipe the blade with this sharpener.░░░ A FEW NOTES AFTER YEARS OF WORKING ON MOWERS ░░░1. If your blade is really old and beat up, you may need to take some of the dings out of it with a file. That will be determined by how many rocks and sprinkler heads that you've hit.2. While it's tempting to try to sharpen the blade while it's still on the mower, don't. It's way, way easier to take the blade off and sharpen it. Plus, you'll do a better job.3. If you don't have a bench vise to clamp your blade into when sharpening, just use a couple of 2x4s screwed together to hold the blade in place.4. If you really want a well-running mower, use a blade balancer like this one: Oregon Lawn Mower Blade Balancer 42-100. Balancing the blade is not essential for homeowners and few people do this, but it's ideal if you're mowing a lot commercially or just really into having a fine-tuned mower.5. A razor sharp mower blade is really overkill, because you're just cutting grass. So my advice would be to not obsess about getting a perfectly sharp blade. This sharpener will get it plenty sharp.6. Regular sharpening, like every season or even twice a season, will keep the blade nice and sharp. If you let it get too dull it'll be hard to sharpen (like after several years). So it's a nice design with the built-in brush and sharpener angle. I strongly recommend it..................This product was NOT given to me as part of any promotion. I bought it after doing some comparison shopping and this review is entirely the result of my own opinions and use of the product.

Love this thing

I've used this for a couple years now and wanted to let everyone know I think it is incredible. It is easy to use and my young kids love helping me through the entire process of removing the blade, sharpening, and securing the blade. It's my first landscaping every March, my unoffical arrival of spring tradition. I recommend this tool to anyone looking for a cost effective solution.

Saved time and effort

It did a good job of sharpening the mower blade. It took less effort and time than using a file as I had been doing.

Did not work for me. Might be a good bet if you can't use a file to sharpen your mower blade.

Just plain did not work for me. Possibly I lack the patience, skill, or technique to use this right.Let me say up front that I am not fussy about sharpening tools. Just want it to be sharp, don't really care how it gets that way. I have always sharpened garden tools with a file. The writeup for this makes it seem easier than using a file, so I thought I would give it a try.One edge of my lawn mower blade was badly dinged up. Even after taking down the biggest dings with a file, I could not get this to sharpen that side. (Or, if it ever was going to sharpen it, it was going to take all day.)On the side with no nicks, it would get kind-of not-dull, but no more than that. You know how it feels when you pull your thumb across a sharpened blade? That feeling where you can say, OK, that's sharp, I can stop now. It never got to that point. So either it takes a LOT more strokes than I'd care to do, or it'll never get to that point regardless. In the end, I gave up and used a file. For me, that was faster and gave me better control over the edge of the blade. One thing I noticed is that, by design, this tool makes you remove *a lot* of metal in order to get an edge on the blade. It scrapes metal off the entire bezel of the mower blade. That is your sole option. So when you use this tool, in effect, you have to grind the entire bezel back, at the factory angle, by hand, until the leading edge of the bezel is reasonable sharp. Which is a fine if you are using a grinding wheel, but it kind of tedious by hand. With a file, by contrast, once you've filed any nicks flat, you can cheat: You can lift the file a couple of degrees and just sharpen leading edge of the bezel. That goes a lot faster, removes a lot less metal, and gets you to a nice sharp edge in very little time.I'm giving this one away to my local thrift shop. It's probably a good tool if you don't feel confident that you can sharpen a mower blade with a file. But if are used to do it with a file, this tool seems like an awful lot of effort for at best a mediocre edge.

It worked just fine

Was a little bit hard to get the feel of it and the right position. But after I got it to work right it did a fine job. Yes I would but it again
