First time with a froe, and this works well

I don't write that many reviews so this is an exception. I like this solution better than the $70 splitters where you set the wood in a cast iron cage. They seem nice but I am just trying to split firewood into kindling from time to time (hardwoods). A froe offers control and precision, and is a lot less expensive. I found using a deadblow rubber mallet to work better than a wooden mallet. I can go old school and use an ax but this is much easier.

Seems to be pretty decent quality

It maybe could’ve been a little sharper haven’t use it yet to know whether or not it’s gonna be good enough quality for what I wanted it to do but it looks all right to me

Simple high quality Froe

I’ve used a few froes in my time. I like this one a lot. It’s solid and feels well made. I also like that it has a hole for a screw to keep the head in place. Previous froes I’ve used have had loose heads and the screw in this one fixes that. It’s taken a beating from me as I often use it on oak.

Thicker than expected but still good

Havnt used it yet but seams solid the blade was thicker than what I thought it would be but im sure it will help considering how much hardwood I have to split this week.

Don't buy

Very weak. I bent it the first time I tried to use it. Also the socket isn't not tapered the handel is. I didn't want to put a screw in it so a could take it apart to carry. This is traditional. The handel kept bouncing out because of the taper. Save the money and buy a good hand forged one from etsy. Trying to load a pic but it won't let me.

It works, it's connection is rough

The blad works well enough. The handle is a very hard wood handle. The connection given for them is a small screw that struggles to cut into the wood even with a predrilled hole for it. The parts are fine, you just have to figure out a means to connect them well for yourself.

Needs a good sharpening job. Handle design could be better. Works !

Works well. But you need to sharpen it and assemble it. It seems the taper on the ferrule is the reverse of what it should be, as a froe is pushed along to split green wood. For seasoned wood, you will need a 4 lb hammer to drive it home on things like oak. I got it to prep firewood for wood fired pizza oven.
