The Best SUB ON THE MARKET FOR THE PRICE

You cannot go wrong with this Subwoofer I just wish I had more money to buy a second one.

Powerful, but reliable?

The media could not be loaded. I am not an audiophile or expert, just an enthusiast. My review may not be worth much, but I did want to share my experience for anyone on the fence about buying this beast. I myself flip flopped on it for awhile and pulled the trigger a couple weeks ago.The subwoofer is massive. It'll be delivered via freight/LTL. It is not easy to move around without assistance. It's packaged well and everything is well protected. The cabinet finish is nice. The unit has rubber feet installed, which were great to reduce vibration on my hardwood floors in my open concept living space.Upon power up, I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling. The bottom driver audibly pops three times when the main power is switched on. When auto sensing power activates the unit, the bottom and top driver each audibly pop. This happens every time. I just left the power "On" instead of "Auto" so I didn't hear this even time I flipped on the TV. It's a little disconcerting, but could be normal as its my first Monolith. None of my other powered speakers or subwoofers have ever done this.I attached this to a Denon soundbar, then later to a Yamaha AVR. Unsurprisingly, the experience was similar, but I was able to blend it into a true 5.1 setup with the AVR and dial things in to my liking. The sound output can reach insane levels. The Monolith digs deep and rattles the walls and windows with ease (though as I was only breaking it in, the gain and master volume were never brought to high or maximum levels). It can be run in sealed or ported mode. This thing has potential.Unfortunately, my unit had a few downsides that may have been specific to me/my experience. Though low distortion is advertised, there was some definite and very noticeable distortion and rattling coming from only the bottom driver. Regardless of crossover and EQ settings at the subwoofer or receiver level, I could not tune this out. It occurred in ported and sealed mode primarily when listening to music. The top driver was fine.A few times, the subwoofer just cut out as the plate amp went into a flashing Red/Green protective state and required a full power cycle of killing the master switch, waiting for the caps to discharge (while it continued flashing for another 15 seconds), then powering it back up and waiting for it to pop a few times back to life. Not exactly sure why this happened, but it did happen a few times regardless of movies or music playing at moderate volume levels. This was quite a turn off (no pun intended)--and quite likely a symptom of a defective or soon-to-be bad amplifier. This unit does advertise a 5 year warranty, so I researched the Monolith (Monoprice) customer service experience through different forums and outlets. The trend seems to be full replacement after sending the defective unit back to them, rather than having a replacement amp or driver sent out for field replacement like SVS or even Klipsch will often do.After a few weeks with it, the initial overall component quality seems to be lacking quite a bit for the price paid, and future support potentially being a logistics nightmare for the end customer. The build date is April 2022. It is being returned, and I am now back in the "massive output, low distortion" subwoofer market.

Best Sub for the money?

This massive subwoofer unit delivers! We are talking open concept room with bass that you feel. The low frequencies are definitely noticeable compared to my 12” SVS and my 10”Velodyne combined. We aren't comparing apples, but the upgrade is very noticeable. In full THX mode it lacks performance. You must adjust your sub volume to match speaker levels in my opinion. I just used a DB app on my phone. With receiver’s volume at 0 reference, adjust all speakers to 75DB . That works for me. The first thing you notice is that this box is huge. I lay mine on its side for the look I want. If you want high output in movies with low hz. You found it. And it’s girlfriend approved!
