Used for butterfly puddlers.
I ordered this hermit crab sand not for hermit crabs, but for filling the bottoms of butterfly puddlers I keep in my garden to help the butterflies get the moisture and minerals they need. Since the sand has salt in it already, I felt this would be a good alternative to plain sand. I put the sand in a shallow dish with some shells, stones or marbles for the butterflies to sit on and then fill them with water. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of the butterflies using the puddlers.

Good but should be temporary due to getting dry extremely fast
If wanting to use for a hermit crabs enclosure I would recommend if being temporary because of how fast it drys. Hermit crabs need sand castle consistency and it being dry cause it to not be. Hermit crabs burrow and if the sand is too dry it can collapse on them. I recommend play sand from Home Depot and eco earth 5:1 ratio.

My daughters lil crabby loves this sand, it seems to be easy for him to burrow and bury his food and shells inš He has been digging through it is much that we just placed the order for another bag for him!
