The story is classic but the illustrations brought it to life. Great to read to my grandson who soon picked up the names!!

Published in 1968, the author follows the style of the times in his artwork - using a limited selection of colours - to produce a memorable book.As another reviewer says this is not the story she was expecting, I will refresh the memory of the older generation: it's the tale of silly Henny Penny, who, when an acorn lands on her head, thinks the sky is falling in, and goes off to tell the king. On the way she accumulates several other farmyard birds...and eventually the deceitful Foxy Loxy, who ushers them to a short-cut to the king, which turns out to be his den."Since then (they) have never been seen again...Foxy Loxy (and family) still remember the fine feast they had that day."The repetition and clear pictures make it ideal for very young children.

This is a classic tale and who better to tell it than Paul Galdone with his exceptional and humorously expressive artwork. Stunning, a real joy to look at.

Pleased with this beautiful edition! Bought it for my under 10s, they enjoyed the story! Not the traditional happy ending, which was entertaining and appreciated by all.

We first bought this book when our daughters were very young and they would not go to sleep without having the book read to them. We have recently bought a copy for our young grandaughter and she is as enthusiastic about it as her mummy used to be. She is only just over 3 years old and has already managed to memorise the pages. It is a wonderful book for a child's development (although it gets quite tedious for the person who has the joy of reading it to the child each day!). Terrific value for money, I would recommend it to anyone.

A childhood book for me, bought this for my little boy - its great, he loves it! It arrived safely and quickly. Would recommend for 2/3/4 year olds!

Henny Penny is a perfect book for my 3 year old gran-daughter she loves it and wants it read time after time.
