Just For Men Control GX 2 in 1 Grey Reducing Shampoo and Conditioner, 5 Fluid Ounce

I normally don’t write reviews unless I hate the product or love the product. In the case of Just For Men Control GX 2 in 1 Shampoo and conditioner, I LOVE this product.The before/after picture is a reference, the after picture was taken after 6 uses.PROS:Control GX simply works and does exactly as advertised.Simple to use and left my hair feeling as good and soft as regular shampoo/conditioner.After six uses the tube is still at least half full so a little goes a long way.CONS:Only one. The staining of fingernails is very real so keep that in mind. Using the palms of your hands or gloves is my recommendation.NOTES:1- Each day after massaging it in, I left it in for the following time frames;Day 1- 1-2 minutesDay 2- 3 minutesDay 3- 3-5 minutesDay 4- 3-5 minutesDay 5- 5-7 minutesDay 6- 5-7 minutes2- Some people have reported hair loss; no such thing in my experience.3- It does run purple after rinsing so make sure you hose down the shower after use.4- I used a dark towel for drying my hair so I can’t speak to if it stains light towels.5- With dry hair, no staining of clothes from sweating or staining pillow cases at night.6- Do the skin test, better safe than sorry. I had no issues.Today was the first day of using my regular shampoo/conditioner and I see zero change in the color, I’ll update this review as the color starts to fade to see how long it takes.I’m very happy with Control GX, it brought my hair back to my natural color of dark brown and did it evenly. Using it for 1-2 minutes a day will take longer but achieve the same results I’m sure, I was just impatient!I will strongly recommend this product.

As background, I have black straight hair, with numerous grey hairs scattered throughout. While I don’t necessarily mind the grey hairs, they’re actually more of a bright silver color, which contrasts very well with the black hairs and stands out strongly, especially in bright sunlight.I’ve tried the regular Just for Men before, and while it worked perfectly fine, I didn’t like that it made everything evenly black, which makes it very obvious that I colored my hair. Especially as it was a step function, i.e. one day grey, the next day black, then growing in grey until the next time I colored my hair.This Control GX is EXACTLY what I was looking for: a way to not get rid of the grey completely, but to just “tone it down” a notch so that it doesn’t stand out so much. However, the grey is still there so it’s not immediately apparent that I’ve done anything special to my hair. Also, it takes a while for the color to take hold, and also for it to gradually fade, so it’s a very slow, subtle progression, not all at once like the regular JFM product.See the pictures for the results of 1 week’s use of this product. It’s a little hard to tell, but in the second picture the grey hairs are still there, they’ve just been darkened slightly to more of a graphite (or true grey) color.I used it per the directions, and have had no problems with my nails or my shower becoming darker. The smell isn’t bad, and the conditioner seems to work well (but not as good as a separate conditioner).I absolutely love this product, and am thinking of stocking up just in case they discontinue it in the future.

Hey guys, this one works. I started getting comments after the third use that I was "looking younger", "Your work out is paying off", and general looks and smiles from others seemed to increase. So, a couple of things. I'm 100% silver haired (dark brown in youth). Lost all the color at 27, am 52 now. I've used other Home dye products and professional colorings, but my hair grows so fast that after 5 days I'd need a touch up to kill the grey scalp line. Total pain. I decided to stop coloring a year ago, but my baby face and full head of hair looked rediculous all grey. People would ask "Why did you dye your hair silver ?" 🙄This product works well and hair looks great. Due to it being a shampoo, it automatically touches up the grey as it grows. Caveats: It does stain the shower if you don't rinse the walls, it will turn your nails black after 6 uses (nails are hair basically), it does have a hair color smell immediately after use, also pre test for allergies. Using daily made my scalp itch and dry out the first week. I've always been sensitive to hair dyes, I assume due to decades of use. To solve the slight drawbacks, I'm maintaining color using it only every three days, protecting my nails and shower by wearing disposable kitchen gloves when applying, and I don't work into my scalp using my palms vs fingers to apply. I suggest a leave in conditioner for grooming after to keep hair and scalp healthy as well as mask hair dye smell. Although product is a 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner, it wasn't enough to moisturize my hair or scalp. I suggest rotating product adding a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for colored hair.
