Military Strategy Classics of Ancient China - English & Chinese: The Art of War, Methods of War, 36 Stratagems & Selected Teachings Paperback – March 17, 2013

I bought one of these for myself and several for friends. I had been given a copy of the 36 Stratagems years ago, and this translation is excellent in comparison. I enjoy the other items in this collection even more than the 36 Stratagems, I highly recommend this collection to anyone interested in history or strategic thinking.

Having the Chinese and English together was extremely helpful and appreciated. Great for any military strategist or student of military history. Most people are only familiar with Sun Tzu, and this was perfect having all of them.

It looks good and includes the Chinese text. I don't know the language but I assume it would mean a lot to those who do!

For a student of strategy and tactics, a worthwhile compilation, especially from a historical perspective. One can see the development that led to the book of Sun Tze, and the interpretations derived from it, all in one volume.

The Chinese translator Chen Song is to be congratulated for producing such fluid and readable versions of these Chinese classics. I'm not qualified to judge their technical accuracy, but the naturalness of the language is not found consistently in other English translations. This is a unique collection well worth owning for English-language readers who want to read for the ideas without getting tripped up by awkward translation...
