Buy it!
Love it! Would recommend for smaller spaces. Sound quality is great! Radio, CD player, reads USBs, and Bluetooth!!! Great buy for me with a ton of old CDs.

Pretty good little bookshelf system!
First off, the vast majority if not all of the packaging is recyclable. Whoever at Philips did the packaging also did a really nice job. The little touch of folding a tab into the tape used to secure one of the bags was greatly appreciated. As for the product itself, it looks fairly nice. The speakers have about 5 feet of speaker wire each, and the power cord is also about 5 feet long, which seems generous these days. They are all permanently attached (speaker wires are permanently attached to the speakers, and the power cord is permanently attached to the base unit), which isn't necessarily ideal especially for the speakers, but certainly not a deal breaker, and it may make setup easier for some. The Bluetooth works well and is easy to setup. I haven't tried the CD or radio functions yet, so I can't really speak to those. What I can speak to is the sound quality. I'm no audiophile, and the unit is set up in a lab, not a quiet living room or den. However, it's more than loud enough for a working bio lab without the sound distorting at all, and it sounds absolutely fantastic, especially when compared to the Bluetooth speakers and old computer speakers we had been using. Overall, I'm really happy with it so far.

Main unit is better than the speakers
The main unit works great, but the speakers are not very good. I use different speakers with the main unit, and it sounds quite good.

Sound quality important to me
I’m very pleased with this CD player. I wanted a player with (1) good sound quality, (2) ease of operation and (3) one that would not require a lot of space. I liked that it was all assembled and only had to be plugged it was on sale when I bought it and I feel was very fairly priced.

Great All The Way Around!
Greetings, Good Lookers!I trust you all are doing well.I ordered this system, and had it the very next day!!I opened the very sturdy box, thinking I would I would set things up a few days later; but, I could not wait; Everything was well-packed and secure. Then I saw the instructions! YIKES!Nonetheless, I unpacked everything, and saw the instructions. Phew! They looked quite daunting; but, as I started unpacking everything -- I decided to completely ignore these complicated instructions, and just hook things up as I thought they should go...and -- Voila -- it was all hooked up and ready to rock in no time!!!!These instructions are simply a mess; but, I know you all are smart, and can hook this up in no time...I did it, so can you! The tuner and speakers seem sturdy and very well made.As for the sound -- well -- it is AMAZING! -- such powerful sounds coming out of each of these little gems (the speakers)! Clarity is amazing, and range is equally sublime! I heard the highs, the lows, and all the precious mid-range. I was amazed! I could not understand the bad reviews here.Look, I am an attorney; and a former jazz sax player, and I have loved music for all my life, Perhaps we all hear differently -- I do not know. But, I can tell you all, in my opinion these are GREAT little speakers, especially at this price-point.I can hear so many things I just could never hear with my prior speakers -- and those were NOT cheap speakers!I listen to ALL kinds of music: primarily: Classical, Jazz, and Rock-N-Roll. I have the system on my dresser, with about three-feet of separation between the speakers. The sound is phenomenal! And while I am not hip to the scene of all the new devices you kids have today-- like: Bluetooth and MP-3 Players -- I only wanted to hear my music (on CD) as it was recorded.I am very happy that I did NOT listen to the bad reviews here. These are powerful, and very loud speakers! They will fill a room easily with the precious music you want to here -- REALLY HEAR!!!!I am glad I purchased these!Rock on, kids!Dr. Of Style

Highly recommend against
I bought this for my young daughter who does not have a cell phone yet so doesn't stream music from a device. I wanted an old fashioned cd/FM player because between all of us older family members we have a lot of cd's to play. Well this Philips stereo arrived with no users manual, just a Quick Start guide. None of us could figure out how to search for FM stations easily, let alone how to set a program once we found a station. I went online to get answers about how to use it and found that a true user's manual exists. Problem is I have no way to print it and I'm not interested in bothering a friend to print the 20 page manual. So I first called Philips, who I thought was a good name in electronics. Lady told me to just view the manual online. I had wanted my young daughter to be self-sufficient in learning the use of the stereo. And there are plenty of functions like a sleep mode and other things that I wanted her to learn to use. So then I messaged Amazon and was told to message seller and they would get me a printed manual. Seller said NO. Now I'll never buy anything from seller PHOTOTECH!. They told me to ask Amazon, which I had already done. Sooo, I message Amazon again and get a wonderful lady who took all of this info, understood that I would like a printed manual for this $120 stereo and apparently has one printing and being sent to me. People need to wake up and not stand for paying good money for inferior products and then backing off from good customer service. If this were like $20 instead of $120 I wouldn't complain. Then as to quality, it's really just mediocre and not worth $120. I'd have been better off just buying a countertop all in one (no separate speaker) cd player/radio like I still have in my kitchen. They're like $40 and easy to use. I'd return this but don't want to take back a gift to my daughter. I highly appreciate what Amazon is doing to get me a printed copy. I strongly feel that they shouldn't have to. Between Philips and the PHOTOTECH seller, one of them should have gotten it for me. I wish I had read more reviews when I was shopping. I had read a lot, but now see tons of people say they didn't get a manual. I guarantee you won't either if you buy it, and the one page quick start doesn't give anywhere near enough detail, so be prepared to keep going online to figure out how to use the features and make sure you memorize it!
