Great Product for the Price!

I bought this modem last week, technically. There was an issue with the first one that arrived. Amazon was quick in getting a replacement sent out, at no extra cost. I was very happy with their solution and response too my problem. The second modem that arrived, worked great immediately. I plugged it in, my ISP had it up an running in no time. Plus, my monthly fee for using their equipment is gone. I had a 3 in 1 modem through my ISP. Which had their voice service, WIFI and of course Ethernet ports for hardwiring a computer, or computers. I had nothing but issues with it. I had my ISP swapping out those modems non-stop, plus I was paying a $10/month fee for it. I just never got one that didn't disconnect itself 15 times a day. I called my ISP and got rid of their voice service, went back too just Internet. Ever since I got this Netgear modem/router and hooked it up, my Internet has stayed connected solidly for at least 3 days now. No issues at all. So I am very happy with this product. Sure, it's not the newest one out their, but it definitely gets the job done!

Sleek looking device, easy to activate, and blazing fast!

I had huge reservations before making this purchase because of the mixed reviews. But I took the leap and bought it. It's been just few days but I couldn't be happier! There are few things most negative reviews complain which I have addressed below:1.) MAC Address is blacked out - Believe that's intentional and Netgear provides the exact instructions on how to retrieve the MAC address.2.) Activating with Comcast is a pain - This couldn't be farther from the truth. I use Comcast Xfinity and activating it was a breeze. Just go to Comcast.com/activate to use the device without calling customer support. It's self service and is pretty easy to use. In fact if I remember correctly it doesn't require MAC address, you just need to plug in your computer to the modem via a LAN cable (which is included in the packaging). After activating it I couldn't believe it was so quick. I called up customer support just to confirm whether they see my router activated on their end and it showed up in their systems (although after almost an hour after activation)3.) Slow Wifi speed - i haven't noticed any drop in the wifi download or upload speed. Connecting on 5Ghz gives me a full 100mbs download speed (which is what my Xfinity plan is) and 2.4Ghz gives a reduce speed of around 60mbs. I think that's expected.4.) Warranty and other quality related issues - Even though it's a refurbished product it appears brand new. It's been just few days since I started using it but I haven't observed any issues that might make me want to contact Netgear support.5.) Firmware - Netgear's official site for this modem lists the firmware versions that various ISPs support. It supports the latest version for Comcast, but for some reason my modem has not yet updated to the latest firmware. This is an area where I am unsure how to proceed further but again, the current firmware hasn't caused any issues yet. So I am not too concerned.6.) And then finally, compared to my Xfinity rental modem, which is an Arris, the Netgear modem is sleek looking and has an amazingly fast boot up time. The Arris used to take a good 5-10 mins for the wifi to start working whever it was rebooted. But Netgear takes less 2mins for it to ne up and running.

Constant re-booting needed and still not enough

I bought this about 2 months ago and at first it served its purpose, even though I had to buy a repeater because the range wasn't too great either. Eventually the TV got disconnected from it and we had to reboot it or even reser it to factory defaults, later even that didn't work the router had to be reboted too and sometimes, some devices connected to the wifi but had no internet connection, this has been increasing in frequency so that now it happens every single day, and everytime there are more devices that are left without actual internet connection even when connectec to the Wifi. I has become unbearable.I'm deeply sorry for buying this piece of junk. Made me not want to buy anything from Netgear ever again.
