I take NR (nicotinamide riboside) because scientists say it may prolong life by boosting NAD level in the body. NAD is an essential compound used in every living cell. Human NAD level in the body drop as we age. I don't feel any negative effect of NR so far. On the other hand, I can't feel the positive effect either. I can only trust the science. Harvard genetic scientist David Sinclair actually promotes another ingredient NMN to boost NAD. The relationship among them is NR is the pre-cursor of NMN, NMN is the pre-cursor of NAD.The reason I am not taking NMN is because David Sinclair does not make any endorsement of any commercial brand. On the other hand, Charles Brenner, the scientist who discovered NR, does recommend TRU NIAGEN. There are a lot more studies of NR than NMN and its effect on boosting NAD and the longevity effect. So I go with NR because it is well studied and this brand is trusted.The packaging is excellent and you get the feeling of first class product. The bottle is in deep blue color glass to protect the ingredient from damaging by sunlight. It may be a good idea to store it in refrigerator to prolong shelf life. My only complaint is the product is actually very expensive. I hope the product can be mass produced to bring the price down.

Update, June 2025I have resumed using Tru Niagen. There's now a relevant, published benefit according to newer studies such as "The use of Nicotinamide and Nicotinamide riboside as an adjunct therapy in the treatment of glaucoma." In which case Niagen, or NR, or B3 would not replace needed medical eye drops and other glaucoma care, but could potentially assist or benefit such care.As cited (quote), "To delay or prevent optic nerve damage in glaucoma, two forms of vitamin B3, nicotinamide (NAM) and nicotinamide riboside (NR) are emerging as viable adjuvant therapies. "I'll continue to post my Feb 2025 consideration as well (below, next) but, bottom line, the above sounds like a credible benefit that may help a number of individuals.- PREVIOUS -Update, Feb 2025 -I previously credited Tru Niagen with health benefits. But after several health changes, I grew more skeptical of my own quick cause-effect conclusions, which for me were based on study but also, on subjective feelings, sometimes hype, and certainly hunches. When I started taking Tru Niagen, I also was making multiple health practice improvements at the same time (much more daily exercise and improved nutrition), so it was hasty to conclude Tru Niagen was "the thing." Years later, still taking Tru Niagen, it would also be rash to blame it for an eventual lifechanging ER visit and two critical surgeries. Again, I don't blame Tru Niagen for those, either - just as, I can't scientifically credit it for improvements I experienced while I was on a combo of: Tru Niagen + more exercise + diet improvements all at once.More meaningfully, I found more health authors' views. One, previously on the Tru Niagen bandwagon, the esteemed health author, Dr. Peter Attia, had long recommended and used Tru Niagen based on his high regard for its development team, but then he changed his view, publishing that he stopped using/recommending it since the science is still at best, unsettled and that for him, his skepticism is now "intact," as he writes, hopeful more research may clarify better in the future.Other credible sources have written of potential negatives that could be meaningful, potentially fueling unwanted cell activity (as in, "the big C"). Again, that science isn't settled, either, and this is in no way a suggestion of that as a proven issue.With its benefits still speculative, along with any risks, I stopped taking Tru Niagen two months ago. Interestingly: I'm feeling better now. (Just as I felt better years back when I first started taking it, along with all my other health practice changes.) So, don't rely on me. Do your own due diligence. Consider carefully if you want to experiment with it or not. For me, years after first taking it, I'm more humble now about my knowledge, and have decided to discontinue it. I’ve been using TRU for 7-8 years or so and it’s my daily supplement. I feel like it keeps body aches away, helps recover faster between workouts and keeps my immune system functioning better than before. I take one a day. There was a time I stopped taking these and after a month I felt the difference and got back on these pills.

I love tru niagen, but: the packaging has just changed into an insane amount of triple-threat protection that can't even be recycled! Why....?? I've never received a broken bottle, this is overkill and ironic in that what's supposed to be good for me is now terrible for the environment (and no doubt adds to the price).
