This is a fantastic tequila which can be sipped or used as a wonderful tasting long drink with tonic. We used grapefruit bitters as an extra which worked perfectly with the slightly citrus aromas. Great tequila, we look forward to trying the other one by the same makers

I bought this for going in cocktails, choosing Plata/Blanco for the base tequila flavours without the darker barrel notes that I read could overpower other cocktail ingredients.Plata tequila is known for being harsher than the more aged tequilas, but can be made far better by gentle processing of the agave at lower temperatures, which I read in an interview with El Rayo's founders, is something they meticulously do, and reviews agreed.I don't have other tequilas to compare to, but I can say that when first trying this with soda water (after realising we were out of tonic after already pouring the measure of tequila!), there was an incredible depth of flavours and wow moment, despite the drink being a little on the dry side for my taste. I've since tried a T&T and I'd say tequila and soda actually showcases the flavours better than tonic (I'll have to try some different tonics and report back!). As a lover of the occasional G&T, I actually think I'd choose a T&T with this over most G&Ts, though with a very good gin I still prefer the latter. Tequila and soda water with a little simple syrup is what I'll try next and I have a good feeling about it!Having originally bought for cocktails, I haven't actually tried it in any yet, but with it being so good 'almost naked' with club soda, I can't imagine it not being a success. I look forward to trying the Respodo in the future and given that El Rayo is a new brand, hopefully an Anejo somewhere down the line!

This is a very smooth tequila, with a great balanced flavour. It's a joy to sip. Tried it initially as it was on offer and it's as good to my previous favourite, Forteleza, which is nearly £60 a bottle. Superior in flavour to Patron silver. I ordered another bottle as soon as I tasted it and am kicking myself for not ordering a stash whilst it was on sale. That said, it's worth every penny, even at full price. Treat yourself, I think you're very unlikely to regret it.

What a lovely discovery! This tequila is the mutts nuts. I have to admit that I'm a big fan of the likes of Don Julio, Ocho, Chimango etc and would normally go straight to them but this tequila caught my eye and I decided to give it a go. So glad I did. This is such a pleasure either straight up or in a margarita, or any other of your favourite tequila cocktails. It's lively, fresh, great agave taste but best of all is it's consistent. There's no odd finish or change in how it feels or tastes from first to last. A really, really great tequila and one that is truly delicious!!
