How many 35mm negatives will it hold and transfer at one time?
Does this have any networking/WiFi built in? Will it work well with a modern Mac OSX system.
I am interested in scanning 35mm slides. Does this scanner do a good job and does it have a slider feeder or do you have to scan one at a time?

Top of the heap, there's still nothing better

First things first: The V600 is well put together, seems sturdy enough at the start, plays nicely with a Windows 1 PC, and does beautiful scans of color slides, color and B&W negatives, printed photos, and documents. It's worth the money. That's the TL;DR. If you want to know more, keep reading. The best two things about the V600 are its versatility and its price. Aimed at the photo enthusiast and hobbyist market, it retails for around $350 in 2025. It is capable of scanning film negatives of any size, 35mm film slides, prints up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches, and full-sized documents up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches. Other scanners out there can do some of these things, but only the Epson V600 and its higher-end companion, the V850 Pro, can do all of these things. The next best thing about it is that, as of 2025, it's still for sale. The V500 was released in 2007. We purchased one in 2012, and it lasted until 2025. The V600 was released in 2009, as the successor to the V500. It's almost exactly the same size, and it has higher resolution and faster scanning. The professional-grade V850 Pro was released in 2014.The V600 and its companions serve what is increasingly a niche market. All-in-ones now have photo & document scanning capabilities as good as these scanners. And dedicated film scanners come in a few different technologies to handle slides and negatives. Fewer consumers seem to be interested in the technology-and-feature combination that the V600 offers. I'm glad Epson still sells it.(Note that the dedicated film scanners are largely (almost entirely) limited to 35mm film. You probably can't archive your grandparents' old 126 or 110 negatives.)Up-to-date drivers and software can be downloaded from the Epson website. For Windows 11, the V600 still uses the original Easy Scan software. For MacOS, the V600 uses Easy Scan 2. You can also download Easy Scan 2 for Windows 11, but it's not officially supported for the V600 model. I'm not saying you shouldn't try it, just be warned.Third-party scanning software such as SilverFast also supports the V600, if you would rather use that instead of Easy Scan.I can't think of any negatives to this product. The fact that it's still selling, and that Epson has never released a successor, says a lot about its design, its quality, and its staying power.

Perfect for scanning old photos! No hassle, if that's important to you.

I usually wait a few days to months to write a review for a product to give it a fair shake. However, I'm so impressed by this scanner that I felt compelled to share this with anyone's who's in the same boat as me.Long story short, I have stacks of old photos that I need to preserve for future generations. My old scanner/printer combo was horribly slow and the quality was seriously lacking (600dpi max). I researched scanners and decided on this one due to the positive reviews. This is PERFECT for anyone who doesn't want a hassle to do massive scans. I got it delivered, plugged it in, downloaded the latest drivers from epson and inserted a photo to scan.EASE OF USE:One button scan, it read my photo as color, saved the image into "my pictures" folder and I was done. It took 5-10 seconds total. Woah! So I try again, this time I put three 4x6 photos. Repeat process, I click the scan button on my PC, and it recognized all 3 photos separately, and saved all 3 into the default "my pictures."I go crazy and scan in 55 photos in a matter of 45 minutes. That's unheard of for me and my scanning fiascos in the past. I've owned 3 scanners in the past 10-15 years. I've always hated scanning due to the slow speed and random error messages etc.IMAGE QUALITY:The quality is great, it was not faded nor grainy. I'm sure if I look close enough, I could probably find some differences from the original to the scanned image. Honestly, to my naked eye, it looks good to me. Even my wife was impressed with the results and she was dubious with my past failures in scanning and the results.I'm positive I can knock out our family photos in a very short time without hassle now.Pros:- Fast- Easy (I don't want to fuss with settings if I can get a good scan in one try)- Good to great image quality at this price rangeCons:- Not much, but it is huge. It took a big footprint on my desk, so read the product dimensions carefully.I'm sure there are more technical reviews out there. I'm just getting to the point in my life where I just want things to work and not have to think about it.I'm sure there are a ton of other features that I've not begun to explore with this printer. At this point, I don't care since I can preserve our family photos. This was easily one of the best couple of hundred dollars that I've spent in a long time. One technical hiccup:With only the driver download from Epson, the scan button on the scanner would randomly NOT start a scan. Once I downloaded the "Epson Event Manager" application and had it run in the background, the buttons on the scanner worked like a charm. Hope this helps someone else.Maybe one day, I'll read the manual and find out what else this baby can do. For now, I'll happily start scanning the rest of the photos and finish this important "honey do" item.My machine:Windows 7 - 64 bit self built machine. I can't speak for mac users.Enjoy scanning. You won't regret this purchase.
